Well Kody and I have been out riding the boys the past few days and today we took some pictures. They're both doing very well, although Hot Shot's conformation makes it so that the saddle always slides back on him.

Update!

Wow, can't believe how long its been since I posted. The boys have been doing great. Rowdy is a wonderful horse for Kody, we took him out on a trail ride the other day and he did great. Hot Shot is gaining more weight and looking wonderful. I just finished school, so I'll have a lot more time to ride! So, here are some pictures of the boys from last week...

Winter...

Hm, not much has gone on with the horses since my last post. It's either been icy, muddy, or somewhere in between, and the footing where I ride is very clay like and when muddy is kinda treacherous. But Hot Shot and Rowdy are doing good, I think they are officially settled in to their new home and quite enjoying it.

Freelunging!

Today we freelunged all the horses and got some pictures of Hot Shot and Rowdy. Hot Shot is pretty good at freelunging, he just turns his head to the outside of the circle, so he travels a little crooked. Rowdy needs major encouragement to move faster than a walk, but he actually trotted a circle or two! That is a big improvement for him. So anyway, here are some pictures of them...

D-Day

Today was the imfamous d-day... deworming day! Man, Rowdy is as hard to deworm as he is to bridle, but luckily he's rather short and can't get his head too high. Dancer and Little Bit (my first two horses) were little angels compared to Rowdy haha. I was warned to not paste deworm Hot Shot due to the fact that he doesn't like it and can really get his head up there. I didn't want to wage a battle with him over that yet, so I bought these neat pellets you can feed them and it's just like paste deworming. One of these days I'm gonna get out the camera and get some good shots of both horses so I can keep track of their condition. I'm also waiting on a blanket for Hot Shot, I ordered it a while ago, but there were some issues with the order... It should ship in a few days...

1st outing!

Ha, I'm going to have to get my blogging muscles back into shape with this blog :P Well, Kody decided he wanted to ride Rowdy a few days ago. Now when we went to test ride these guys, Rowdy had a hackamore (bitless bridle). I didn't get any of the tack that belonged with them, so I just used Little Bit's bridle on him that has a double jointed loose ring snaffle. I've gotta say, now I know why he was in a hackamore.... He was quite the pain in the behind to get bridled, but once he was he reacted to a bit just fine, so that was good. While Kody rode, I lunged Hot Shot in side reins. He was pretty good, but I didn't take the reins too tight yet. He canters much better on one side than the other, but I forgot which one :P

The New Horse Project!!

Hey ya'll!

Here I am with a new blog again. This time it's for some new horses, Hot Shot and Rowdy. Hot Shot is a chestnut Arabian X Quarter Horse gelding that is 15.1hh and about 12 years old. He's pretty skinny right now, but that shouldn't take too long to fix. Rowdy is a bay Quarter Horse X Appaloosa gelding. He's about 14hh and around 10 years old and is going to be mostly Kodys horse, although I will be helping him. Rowdy is a tank of a horse! Here are some pictures....
